Lavender and Peppermint Essential Oils for Pain Relief

Lavender and Peppermint Essential Oils for Pain Relief

Let's talk about Lavender and Peppermint essential oils.

Lavender is an awesome essential oil that is good for so many things, that if you could only afford ONE essential oil to have in your cabinet, it would have to be lavender!

Lavender (Lavendula Angustifolia) is probably the most popular essential oil in the world. My favorite use for lavender is putting a few drops on my pillow at night to get me to sleep as fast as possible and help me get a good rest.

Lavender has so many qualities. It's considered to be an analgesic oil (painkilling). Its main ingredient is linalool, which has been  well researched. Even using lavender via inhalation (by diffuser, inhaler or just inhaling it from the bottle) it has been found to be an effective painkiller

Lavender is anti inflammatory as  well and may help relieve tissue stagnation.

It is anti allergenic, antibacterial  and antifungal (!!), especially when used together with tea tree oil.

Lavender is antirheumatic and can reduce swelling. It also has anti spasmodic properties.

Lavender has sedative effects when inhaled or applied topically. That's why so many people use it at bedtime.

Lavender is healing for the skin, if you've got a burn, any kind of itch, irritation or wound. It's great for mouth ulcers and can significantly reduce the size of the ulcer and shorten healing time. I have used lavender "neat" (without diluting it in a carrier oil) directly on burns. It works!

Lavender is antibacterial and evaporates quickly so it can work as a terrific deodorant by removing odors.

Lavender is a great addition to any blend of essential oils that is geared towards helping pain in the back, joints or head.

What about  Lavender for dealing with joint and muscle pain? There are studies that have been done showing that lavender is actually a natural painkiller. All you need to do is apply it to a painful area and it can  reduce inflammation and the intensity of the pain.  There was actually a study done in 2015 which showed that using lavender helped reduce the pain of needle insertion for daily patients (which is a serious cause of anxiety for them).

There was another study that showed that lavender, combined with peppermint and black pepper oils helped people suffering from neck pain.

Peppermint (menthe piperita) is another truly versatile essential oil. It helps digestive issues, is great for nausea and vomiting  and stops gastrointestinal contractions.  It helps deal with stress, migraines and skin conditions as well. It' invigorating yet calming! Peppermint helps stop muscle spasms and is especially effective when combined with Lavender! TerraCure's Blue Balm, Blue Turbo and Terra Post-Co all have both Lavender and Peppermint, making each one a great choice for alleviating back, joint and muscle pain. This combination of essential oils is not only good for joint and muscle pain but also for respiratory and sinus problems.  You can also say goodbye to tension headaches with Lavender and Peppermint!

If you do not yet have Lavender and Peppermint essential oils in your natural medicine cabinet, it is highly recommended that you obtain some. Even if you don't want to make your own blends, you can just sniff them directly from the bottle and achieve so many health benefits! Or just order a Blue Balm from Terracure ;-) .
